Biography

Lucia di Giovanni is born around 1854 in Corleone, the daughter of Luciano di Giovanni and Serafina Salerno, who married in 1831.

Lucia marries Vincenzo lo Bue, son of Gaetano lo Bue and the late Domenica Adorno, and widower of Anna Coniglio, on 5 September 1875. Her father has died by this time.^[1]

Vincenzo and Lucia have at least four children: Domenica (c. 1876), Serafina (c. 1879) Luciano (1893), and Leoluchina (1894).

Domenica is born around 1876, based on her reported age at emigration.

Serafina is born around 1879, based on her reported age at emigration.

Domenica marries Castrenze lo Re on 26 June 1892 in Corleone.^[2]

Luciano, born in 1893, dies in infancy.

Serafina marries Luigi Fragola on 24 July 1898 in Corleone.^[3]

Vincenzo immigrates at an unknown date. Lucia, who is 44 years old (b. 1854), joins him on 10 October 1898, arriving on the SS Karamania with Francesca Paola Morello, 43 (b. 1855), Gaetano lo Bue, 17 (b. 1881), and Angelo di Giovanni, 17 (b. 1881). Francesca is meeting Vito lo Bue and the others are going to Vincenzo lo Bue. Vito and Vincenzo are both in Franklin, LA.^[4]

Bryan Viator (user BVIATOR13) says on a Rootsweb message board that he is a relative of the lo Bue men who immigrated to Franklin, LA: cousins Vito and Vincenzo. They ran a store together there, had a falling out over it.

Another user on the message board, Ken Maniha (user J.K. Maniha) is a professional genealogist. Vito lo Bue and his wife, Francesca Morello, are his great-grandparents. Their son, Pietro, is Ken's grandfather. Pietro changed the family name to Laboa. They moved from Franklin, LA to Houston, TX around 1915.^[5]

Domenica joins her husband, Castrenze, in New York City in 1902.
